How To Clean Cork Fly Rod Handle

Have some B & W rods on which the cork handles accept become grubby. Whatsoever suggestions on cleaning without using sandpaper. As the handles have a unmarried aluminium ring for holding the reel in place, the cleaner needs to exist ally friendly besides.

I treat all my rods with C-40 from new, never bother to clean them, they however perform as they did on the day I bought them, they are, all Sage, all five of them.....
If I ever wanted to clean them, I would imagine a practiced launder in Fairy liquid would do the task, very dainty,

Cork handle cleaning
Thanks for all the replies......Tried the washing up liquid first as its the stuff i had to hand. Worked smashing. Handle similar new and no damage!

cleaning rod handle
use one of the wifes confront wipes does the trick every time.

Pour some Fairy liquid onto the cork and rub in all over the handle merely like you lot were wanking Then have a scourer and lightly rub from pinnacle to bottom for a Min or 2 and then rinse with cold h2o and dry.
Corking manner to clean the handle only be gentle with the scourer.

Allow the gunk build up on the handle until in a few years the rod looks well used.
Then accept an onetime toothbrush and soap and five the corks a good scrubbing.
Once every twenty years or so, give the handle a good sanding and it volition wait similar new.

Trade pro says - Ajax or Vim pulverisation - warm water , give it a rub with the nylon dorsum of a modern panscrub - wash off - dry off !
